“You were not just born to center your entire existence on work and labor. You were born to heal, to grow, to be of service to yourself and community, to practice, to experiment, to create, to have space, to dream, and to connect.” - Tricia Hersey, Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto
You deserve time to rest - come and practice in community.
On fourth Sundays, the Central Illinois Religious Educators will facilitate a guided rest experience on Zoom for our four congregations in Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria, and Springfield. We’ll be drawing from the work of Tricia Hersey, Rest is Resistance: a Manifesto. We’ll hear a reading from Rest as Resistance, rest together for short periods, reflect on rest as resistance in a capitalist society, and leave with a "practice to resist grind culture" from the Rest Deck.
You are encouraged to make yourself feel comfortable in your own space however that reflects for you personally.
If you would like a copy, you can find links to her books and nap deck on bookshelf.org.
Once you register, an email with the Zoom link will be sent out. We will also send monthly reminders.
Next sessions: January 26, February 23, March 23, April 27, and May 25.
